Try some of these natural hair care products, and enjoy the fresh smells of fruit and other good things.
Hair products cost a lot, and we are always tempted by new, laboratory-tested brands in new bottles.
A lot of them are very good, but they are expensive and they often smell of chemicals. Try some of these natural hair products and enjoy the fresh smells of fruit and other good things.
TO GIVE YOUR HAIR BODY AND SHINE
Beat an egg and massage it into freshly washed hair. After five minutes, rinse it out with cool water. Do not use hot water or you will have scrambled egg in your hair. Then you’ll spend all morning washing it out.
Mayonnaise is excellent for conditioning hair. Massage it through, and preferably keep it in overnight (put your hair in a plastic bag or something, to avoid getting mayonnaise all over the pillows). Again, rinse out carefully in cool water. If you use hot, the mayonnaise will set in your hair and will be very difficult to get out.
Beer also gives a lovely shine to hair. Rinse your hair in beer in the shower, then rinse out with water. Use a beer that does not smell too strongly, or you will give people the wrong impression at work. Shampoos based on beers used to be popular though they do not seem to be around at the moment. They never smelled of beer.
OILY HAIR
Opinion is divided about how often to wash oily hair. Some people swear by washing it every day. Others claim that this merely encourages more oil production, thus exacerbating the problem. Whenever you wash your hair, try a tablespoon of cider vinegar to the final rinse to help cut down on the grease.
DRY HAIR
You have to be very careful not to overwash dry hair. It’s very easy to strip away the natural oils if you wash it too frequently.
Olive oil can be a wonderful conditioner for dry hair. Warm up half a cup, or more if your hair is very long. Massage it through the hair, especially the ends and middle bits - these are always drier than the hair near your scalp. Wrap your hair in plastic, and then in a warm towel, and leave for 30 minutes. This enables to oil to penetrate the hair shaft. (Read a good book while you are waiting, have a cup of tea, watch television - you are getting back in the shower afterwards so don’t try to do too much). Wash out carefully, using a gentle shampoo suited for dry hair.
BLONDE HAIR
Blonde hair can look dull and lifeless, regardless of whether it is straight or curly, dry or oily or normal. Lemon juice is a great brightener of blonde hair. Two or three lemons, squeezed into a liter of warm water, makes a great rinse for clean dry hair. Pour it slowly over your hair, working it into all of your hair from roots to tips with your fingers. After ten minutes, rinse thoroughly with warm water. This adds shine and a lovely smell and brightens the blondeness.
Another brightener for blonde hair uses six chamomile tea bags, steeped in a cup of boiling water for 20 minutes. Add half a cup of plain yogurt to the water (discard the teabags), plus five drops of lavender oil. Stir the mixture thoroughly, and when it is properly emulsified, apply the mixture to clean dry hair. Wrap hair in plastic for twenty minutes, then rinse out thoroughly in warm water and shampoo carefully.
None of these suggestions are a replacement for your favorite shampoo and conditioner, but are appealing natural products to try out on your hair when you feel like a change from chemicals.

Most hair loss is hereditary, but learn how you can help keep your hair healthy and safe from other causes of hair loss.
Most hair loss and baldness is hereditary and there really isn’t any way to prevent it.
Other things, however, can cause you to lose hair and if you don’t have baldness in your family, you could find yourself getting a little light on top if you don’t prevent it. If you’re one of the lucky ones that don’t have a family history of needing a toupee, then take some simple precautions and be sure to take good care of your hair.
Hair can be lost to improper care and damage. If you over color your hair, over style it, or abuse it with irons and blow dryers too often, you could be in line for some major fall out. Hair shouldn’t be colored any more often than every six to eight weeks and you should avoid it altogether if possible. While hair coloring doesn’t make everyone’s hair fall out, it does do damage and you will have healthier hair if you don’t color it. Try not to stretch your hair into styles that require a lot of pulling like ponytails and braids and don’t pull on it when you brush it.
Proper nutrition is essential to good hair as is proper rest. Eat well, be sure to drink plenty of water and get enough calcium, which is important for healthy hair. Getting enough sleep is also important a to help your body function properly and maintain your hair’s normal facilities. Being ill can cause hair loss so if you keep your body tuned up and take good care of yourself to stay strong against illnesses, your hair will have a better chance.
Use a good conditioner each time you wash your hair and be sure to keep the split ends of your hair trimmed. Whenever possible, you should let your hair dry naturally instead of using a hairdryer, and try to find a style that does not require an iron Avoid wearing hats that can rub on your scalp causing bald patches.
Taking good care of your hair will reap its own rewards, remember, hair is like your fingernails and it must be treated gently if you want it to stick around!

Tips and hints on how to achieve the desired colour when dyeing your hair. Also, ways to ensure that the colour remains the way you want it.
When deciding to dye your hair you must first consider the colour that you want the end result to be.
If you want to highlight your hair, your natural colour should be either blonde or light to medium brunette. If you have a cool skin tone use ash or beige tones, warmer skin tones should consider using golden or straw hues.
When deciding on the solution that you intend to use, consider the amount of time and upkeep you are willing to put into maintaining your colour. An all over dye will require regular re-dyes to combat different colour roots.
Deep condition your hair a few days before you intend to dye it. Always test the product on a few strands first to ensure that it is the right colour (very rarely are the results exactly the same as the picture on the box!).
Apply the solution to your hair, check every five minutes to ensure that the colour is what you want. Never leave the solution on for longer than 20 minutes. Keep a detailed record of what you did so that you can repeat it if you like the results or if the results are not as wanted you can inform the professional colourist what exactly you have done.
Roots should be done every 3 - 4 weeks with the same colour and brand that you used for the original colour. Part your hair evenly down the center, parting and from ear to ear. Clip each of the four sections seperately. Tend to each section in turn, covering the roots only.
For the last five minutes of the treatment, cover the rest of the hair to merge the colours and brighten up the rest of the hair.
To maintain the colour use a colour safe conditioner and shampoo as your regular hair care products. Use a colour boosting shampoo and conditioner at regular intervals (your stylist should be able to recommend one.) When in the sun use a hair sunscreen as sunlight can seriuosly fade your hair colour. Always test new products on a patch of hair first.
Avoid chlorine and salt water for a few days after dyeing your hair, do not apply hair dye if you have used henna in the last year.
If you are pregnant seek your doctors advice before dyeing.

Hair removal for legs, underarms and the bikini area
Effective methods for the removal of unwanted body hair. Describes which methods work best and differentiates among shaving, waxing and cream dipilatories.
Methods of hair removal are varied these days, so choosing which method is best for you and your skin’s needs is challenging. There are many effective methods, but some work better than others overall while others are ideal for a specific area on the body. What works well for facial hair, may not prove effective for the bikini area. Here are few of the available methods of removing unwanted body hair. Describes which methods work best and differentiates among shaving, waxing and cream depilatories.
Shaving, which is probably the most popular method of hair removal, is also one of the cheapest. Razors cost only a few bucks for a pack and they can be used more than once. The blade tends to dull after extended use and it also rusts easily. Overall, this product works for convenience and price. But the results are not long lasting. Typically, a clean shave from a razor will only last a day or two. Razors are suitable for use in removing hair on legs, underarms and the bikini area. Razors should not be used to remove facial hair, as the hair will grow back thicker and darker and will require regular maintenance. When using a razor, shave against the direction of hair growth to get the closest, cleanest shave. Soaking the area for three to five minutes in warm water will help open the skin’s cuticle, which will help the razor glide easily over the skin. Soap or preferably, a shave gel, will help soften the skin as you shave.
Another option is waxing. In order to wax, the hair needs to be long enough so that the wax can grasp the hairs. Wax is applied on the skin and the wax adheres to the hairs. A fabric strip, pressed on the skin, is pulled against the direction of the hair growth and the hair is pulled from the root. Waxing works well for hair removal for most areas including the legs, face, underarms and the bikini area. The process is a painful one, especially in delicate areas like the bikini area and the upper lip. Not only is waxing painful, but it can be costly and time consuming, since the typical wax lasts up to six weeks and needs maintenance. But the end result can be worth all these pitfalls, especially when other methods of hair removal require daily or weekly upkeep.
Cream depilatories, such as Nair, can be used to remove hair from arms, legs, the bikini area and even the face. Some people have great success with Nair, a product that breaks down hair growth beneath the surface of the skin. Others complain that the lotion doesn’t fully remove all the hairs and acts better as a skin softener. The product is applied to dry skin and wiped off with a wet cloth in a short span of time, usually 10 to 15 minutes. The result can last up to a week and most depilatories are cheap, costing under $10 a bottle. If this method works well at removing hair, it can be a savvy product, especially since the maintenance is not too taxing and the price is reasonable. Burning skin can be a drawback. Depilatories should not be used near eyes, the mouth or any open areas.
Other popular hair removal methods include tweezing, electrolysis and bleaching. Tweezing the hairs will remove them temporarily, while electrolysis will permanently zap hairs away. Tweezing is cheap, since it only involves the purchase of a quality tweezer, but it is time consuming and requires a lot of upkeep. Electrolysis, meanwhile, costs a lot and removes a small amount of hair at a time. Electrolysis is advisable for those who wish to permanently remove hair, especially in small area such as the eyebrows and the upper lip. There’s another option, too, but that option only conceals: hair—bleaching. Forget bleaching
if you have sensitive skin. Your skin can burn or get irritated easily, especially if you use anti-acne products. But for a quick fix in covering dark hair, bleaching may work. When it comes to banishing that dark or thick hair, one of the other methods—waxing, shaving, depilatories, tweezing or electrolysis is recommended.
