Hair Myths

June 27th, 2006

“To get really clean hair, you must “lather, rinse and repeat.” One really good wash is normally enough.
“You can mend split ends with the right products.” Once they’re split, that’s it. The only thing you can do then is cut them. Some products can make split ends less noticeable however.

“Hair develops immunity to the same shampoo over time”. There is no evidence for this.

“Cutting your hair makes it stronger or grow faster.” Cutting it will only make it shorter and hair grows almost exactly half an inch per month, no matter what you do or take.

“Dandruff is contagious.” No.

“To get your hair to grow, brush 100 strokes each day “. Brushing hair excessively is very damaging to the hair and may damage the follicle.

“You should never pluck a gray hair because 10 more will grow in its place”. One folicle = One hair !
