What are the Major Hair Loss Causes?

Healthy, smooth and silky hairs are something that everybody wishes to have. But due to improper hair care, environmental pollution and stressful life it has really become a dream today.

One should know the proper cause of his or her hair loss to cure the hair loss problem from the root.

Hair Loss Causes

• Hormonal problems are one of the main causes of hair loss. If your thyroid gland is under active or overactive, you will suffer the problem of hair loss. This hair loss generally can be cured by treatment of the thyroid disorder. Hair loss may occur if androgens (male hormones) or estrogens (female hormones) are out of balance. Clinical treatment of hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss.

• Pregnant women also notice hair loss problems within a period of about 3 months after delivery. During pregnancy, high levels of particular hormones cause the body to keep hair that would normally fall out. When the hormones return to pre-pregnancy levels, that hair falls out and the normal growth and loss cycle starts again.

• Some fungal infections also cause hair loss. Generally, children may have hair loss problems caused by a fungal infection of the scalp. This type of fungal infection can be easily treated with antifungal medicines.

• Certain medicines (mainly sulphur drugs) can cause hair loss. This type of hair loss problem improves when you stop taking the medicine. Medicines that can cause hair loss include anticoagulants (also known as blood thinners), medicines utilized in chemotherapy to treat cancer, medicines used for gout, vitamin A (if too much is taken), birth control pills, and antidepressants.

• If you have undergone a major operation or have suffered a prolong illness you can face the problem of hair loss. However, this hair loss is related to the stress of the illness and is temporary.

Say Goodbye To Hair Ailments

At times, you may have been caught admiring that beautiful hair of the lady or gentleman sitting next to you. Thick and dark as they look, they seem to be instrumental in enhancing their beauty and smartness.

If you don’t form part of the team and want to be the one amongst them, here is a guide that will lead you to gain healthy and beautiful hair.

The advancements in dermatology, especially, due to major breakthroughs in herbal science have given rise to cure for hair loss, dandruff cure and even alopecia cure.
Hair loss is equally prevalent amongst both men and women. Other than the normal loss of hair after they complete their life span, premature hair loss is on the rise. Modern science describes natural hair loss as a result of heredity, hormones and aging. While this is common in both the sexes, women are found to be undergoing hair loss during and after menopause and even after child birth. Hair loss has also been attributed to stress, unbalanced diet, improper care of hair and scalp, infectious diseases and nutritional and protein deficiencies in the hair. Use of shampoos and conditioners which don’t suit your hair may also be one of the reasons of hair loss. Added to it, is the worry of dandruff. A good hair loss doctor will always advocate hair loss and dandruff as separate issues; presence of dandruff may not lead to hair loss but a clean scalp free from dandruff does prevent hair loss.
The cure for hair loss as well as dandruff lies in adhering to the basics. Initially, one has to maintain his or her hair the best way by regular massaging, brushing and by using a shampoo which has pH less then Seven(acidic). It is also recommended that one should be cautious while using cosmetics for hair and should seek advice from a good doctor before shifting to them.
Hair loss remedy, firstly, lies in adhering to an adequate diet. Opt for an iron rich diet and one rich in vitamin C, as it helps the body in absorption of iron. Secondly, have a look at the brush, oil, shampoo, conditioner and cosmetics you are using. Excessive perming, dyeing, bleaching and massage can turn the hair brittle and make them rough thereby resulting in hair loss. To prevent hair loss, your primary aim should be to keep the hair and scalp clean by using a quality shampoo, which doesn’t cause irritation and facilitates secretion of natural oils. The hair should be properly dried after bathing by mild exposure to the sun or by a drier. Avoid rubbing the hair for drying.
Dandruff cure lies in keeping the scalp clean from dirt and any other foreign material. Some people do have an inherent problem of dandruff due to excessive sebum secretion. Boric acid has been prevalent for long as an effective cure for dandruff. Make a solution of boric acid in water and rub it into the scalp. Wash after a short while with a good quality shampoo. Use of lemon juice and crushed lemon leaves is also recommended for a clean scalp.
Dandruff treatment may also be carried out by the help of medicated shampoos especially made for dandruff removal. Regular use of such a shampoo may control excessive production of new cells in the scalp which result in dandruff. These shampoos are microbial, anti inflammatory and produce the desired result if used under the supervision of a hair loss doctor.
With hair loss remedy and dandruff cure coming to the fore, it is time to enjoy the big bonus of science. Pay a visit to your hair loss doctor and go for a suitable hair loss treatment or dandruff cure as you desire. It’s a new beginning with many to follow.

Scalp Acupuncture

Acupuncture is about manipulating appropriate parts of the body to facilitate flow. Scalp acupuncture is one approach to such treatment.

Scalp Acupuncture
Although acupuncture is a treatment form that has existed for over 2000 years, it is still evolving and changing. One of the most significant developments in the field of acupuncture is the concept of holistic systems.

This idea is based on ancient Taoist philosophical conclusions about the make-up and nature of the Universe. There is a common thread based on the idea that the whole is contained within the parts. What this means is that there are miniature systems within certain parts of the body that contain the characteristics of the whole body.

This concept can be applied to acupuncture by identifying acupuncture points in these miniature systems that relate to the body as a whole. Some examples of this are Korean Hand Acupuncture and Auricular Acupuncture (Ear Acupuncture). Another example is Scalp Acupuncture. Scalp Acupuncture is popular in Japan, but has been spreading rapidly over the World in the last couple of decades.

Scalp Acupuncture, like the other holistic systems, maps the skull to find points that relate to the Meridians of the entire body. Although some traditional Meridians pass through the skull, and several well known and useful body acupuncture points are located there, Scalp Acupuncture has its own miniature body map. There are over 80 different conditions that have been identified that seem to respond especially well to Scalp Acupuncture. Pain is one of these. Conditions that involve brain functions seem a natural for this form of treatment, and very good results have been obtained with stroke patients.

Scalp Acupuncture uses extremely small and thin needles. The insertion angle is between 15 and 30 degrees and penetration is very minimal compared to body acupuncture. It is quite normal to apply stimulation to the needles during the treatment. This is done either by manual twisting or by electro-stimulation. The needles are stimulated for three or four minutes, followed by five or more minutes of rest. Patients are instructed to focus their attention and mental energy on the stimulation points during the treatments.

There are several different schools of Scalp Acupuncture that have been developing separately over the last 30 years. Each uses a slightly different mapping of the skull although the actual insertion and stimulation techniques are very similar. There is still much research and experimentation taking place in this field. The holistic system forms of acupuncture are often used in conjunction with the more time honored body acupuncture techniques. The advantage of Scalp Acupuncture is the fact that the treatments can take place in a sitting position and involve considerably less discomfort.

Laser Hair Comb – Can It Really Work As Good As They Say?

Is this gimmick for hair loss that sounds too good to be true? Maybe not. I did some research and found some interesting information on laser hair combs.

Like many middle-aged men I found myself with thinning hair. I did not like what I was seeing in the shower drain and wanted to do something about it. I usually don’t look at the back of my head but I have been lately.

I tried expensive shampoos and other conditioners that my hairdresser talked me into. They were a waste of money. I didn’t see any noticeable results. I read an article about laser hair treatments and wanted to learn more. Hairmax came out with a laser hair comb for home treatment that looked really good. A bit expensive but if it works I figure I am worth it.

The laser comb uses low level laser therapy to promote hair growth. It has been tested and approved by the FDA. Laser hair therapy has been used in hair clinics around the world. The laser hair comb is a small version made for home use.

You use it just like a regular brush or comb and the built in low level lasers stimulate your hair follicles by increasing blood flow. In 5 to 10 weeks time you should notice a considerable difference in your hair quality, strength and thickness.

Some users have claimed a 50 percent increase in hair from the time they started using a laser comb. There is one big drawback however, once you stop using your laser hair comb or brush your hair will regress back to its original condition.

Once you have the thicker fuller hair you were looking for maintenance is not that bad. You are only required to use your laser hair comb for 10 to 15 minutes 3 times a week to maintain your new head of hair.

Finding laser hair combs or brushes in stock is another thing. They seem to be getting popular very fast and the cost has not stopped people from rushing out and buying one. With the cost of other hair treatments and therapy this may be a great alternative.

Fortunately for me I have already bought one. I have only had it a few weeks so the results are not in. Using the laser hair comb is really simple and I do it while watching my favorite television show. I found it to be very relaxing.

Hair Loss Treatment May Be On The Way As Research Grows New Hair In Mice

Hair loss treatment may be possible

Scientists say they have stimulated the growth of new hair in mice, disproving a long-held belief that it is not possible to correct baldness in adults.

Scientists say they did it through the creation of new follicles, microscopic “mini-organs” in the skin that produce hair strands.

Experts say that people suffer hair loss, because the follicles shrink and eventually disappear with age. But they discovered they can stimulate the growth of new hair-producing follicles in mice by damaging their skin.

George Cotsarelis, an investigative dermatologist at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, says researchers used an abrasive technique similar to one used on humans to remove facial acne scars, except that they used the technique on the skin of laboratory mice.

“These follicles actually form from scratch,” he said.  “They’re not there and then they develop from epidermal cells that normally don’t make hair follicles.”

In the study, the abrasion caused wounds and the healing of the wounds triggered an embryonic state in the rodents’ skin, which became receptive to instructions from a protein called WNT.

The scientists discovered they could control the amount of hair growth either by blocking the amount of WNT proteins, stopping follicle formation, or over-stimulating WNT and doubling the production of hair-producing follicles.

“That suggests that wounding creates this period of time where you can manipulate the regeneration of the follicles,” he added.  “So, you can actually increase the number that’s formed.”

The results of the study are in the journal Nature.

Cotsarelis says the new hair in mice was white, because the animals have no pigment throughout their skin and humans have pigment throughout their skin so new hair would likely be colored.

Cotsarelis is exploring these discoveries for a company he helped found to examine hair regeneration in humans and to find hair loss treatment methods.
